The Rangers UEFA licence story just got stranger today.
The news, broken on the Rangers Tax Case blog that the Ibrox club is going to appeal the “wee bill” provides a belated defence to the fact that they were granted a licence to play in UEFA competitions this season.
Of course the £2.8 million tax bill was not under appeal at the time that the SFA granted Rangers the license to play in Europe.
Obviously the frozen monies were about to go out of Rangers’ account next Friday and that will have been focusing minds at Edmiston Drive.
However a cynic might also see this as an 11th hour attempt to muddy the waters as more and more scrutiny is applied to the minutiae of the UEFA licence story.
Just as well I’m not a cynic.
