The absence of Mr David Cunningham King last Friday at the General Meeting of Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) did not go unnoticed.
Excellently placed sources inform me that the explanation for his non-attendance was that the South African based entrepreneur was in London.
The reason for Mr King’s sojourn in the UK capital was to meet with Mr Mike Ashley and his associates.
I understand that the meeting was requested by Mr King and at that conclave the RIFC Chairman outlined the perilous state of that company’s financial situation to the Sports Direct magnate.
The Ashley side listened intently with Big Mike being accompanied by several legal advisers as the numbers were explained in precise detail.
However, Mr Ashley, a major RIFC shareholder, was non-committal at the meeting.
I am sure that The People will be heartened to hear that the Chairman of their beloved Holding Company Vehicle is so active on their behalf.
Of course, if this information is incorrect then I am sure that the club’s excellent PR professionals can fashion a statement utterly refuting this story.
They can simply state that Mr King had no such meeting.
