Dignity and gratitude

The disparity between representation and reality is something in the human condition that continues to fascinate me.

For example one of the peculiar things about many of The People is their apparent inflated sense of importance despite the material circumstances of their immediate existence.

The mainstream ran with a story that it was this legal move that had prevented Big Mike from securing Ibrox.

This restriction apparently lasts until the 17th of next month.

However it could be released tomorrow and I doubt if it would make any real difference.

It would be churlish to begrudge the Ibrox fellows a little moonbeam here and there as it has been mainly darkness for them over the past few years.

However, these quintessentially British chaps may have merely antagonised the Sports Direct magnate.

Not a good idea I think…

No doubt their move was well intentioned and heartfelt.

However I understand Mr Ashley does not have security over Ibrox stadium because it is not in the gift of Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) to grant it to them.

I’m afraid that all these staunch chaps have achieved by this recourse to the courts has been to give some money over to some legal fellows.

Of course that is entirely their prerogative.

It is worth recalling that since December 2013 there have been several attempts by various senior RIFC personnel to raise finance against Ibrox stadium.

Yet each time they have failed.

The reason for this is not entirely clear.

It might be because of the Sevco 5088 contingent liability contained in the RIFC accounts.

However there might be another reason, another encumbrance.

For the avoidance of doubt Sevco remains a loss making business without a credit line from a bank.

Moreover, only the loans from Mr Ashley are keeping the good ship Sevco afloat at the moment.

In my opinion The People are truly fortunate to have such a charitable benefactor in Big Mike.

For some reason he has taken pity upon them in their current beggared state.

Subsequently, it might be an idea to start practicing gratitude instead of dignity.
