Preparing for D-Listing Day

Sun Tzu, the sage Chinese military strategist, famously observed that “all warfare is based upon deception”.

Yesterday was a difficult shift for those tasked with spinning for the new regime at Rangers International Football Club (RIFC).

I passed this statement to the London Stock Exchange around various City types yesterday and not one them found it convincing..

Of course de-listing from the AIM must be presented to The People as all part of the Grand Plan.

There are, after all, Real Rangers Men (RRM) now at the top of the Marble Staircase.

Within the world view of The People everything else will effortlessly fall into place.

Alternatively it can all just fall into chaos.

This statement from RIFC Interim Chairman Paul Murray sought to lay the blame for having no Nominated Adviser (NOMAD) at the door of the previous regime.

It is worth remembering that throughout all of the Charles Green craziness RIFC had an auditor and a NOMAD and now has neither.

These are facts that cannot be denied.

However, you will be perfectly aware dear reader that The People have a stunning ability to ignore pesky facts.

Quite simply they suffer from a culturally induced myopia.

Quite simply they cannot see past the brogues from their prostrate position at the bottom of the Marble Staircase.

Last week my Square Mile guy stated to me that RIFC had “No NOMAD, no money, no hope!”

At this stage I’m inclined to believe him.

Of course when Mr David Cunningham King ‘jetted in’ the issue of a new NOMAD wasn’t a problem, well that’s what I think he said…

Of course The People must continue to believe in their King across the water because they alternative reality is too awful to contemplate.

Uncomprehendingly loyal they stumble towards a battle following their leader.

Yet some of them silently know that they cannot win a fight against a superior enemy, especially on terrain not of their choosing.

Next week, as I trailed on twitter yesterday, will likely see some of the major shareholders in RIFC consider their legal options.

The Chinese general also stated that a successful commander should “pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance”.

I think General Ashley would approve of that strategy.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and yours a happy Easter.
