“No surrender” has been the battle cry of the Rangers hordes which have attacked more European capitals than Adolf and Attila.

However, I do believe today the cry will be “we surrender!”

I have received  information that an 11th hour deal is being hatched that will allow Sevco Scotland into the SFA.

My moles in the real Big Hoose have told me that the thorny issue of EBTs and dual contracts will remain on the agenda.

Charlie seems to be ready to accept this logical inevitability, but what of the resident rabble rouser in chief?

As Sevco trudges through Division 3  I expect that justice on the historical issue of the illegal registration of players by the deceased club will finally arrive before the season is concluded.

When will truth, honesty and integrity stand up and allow fairness to win the day? Will we eve r get back to football?

Green needs Ally as his link to the past.Ally needs Green as long as he’s the owner.Once again the tabloids print a McC comment as if he had a say in the matter. Its a shaky alliance between the two neither is going to get what they want. EBT’s is for me the biggest and most important issue of the lot.I spent too many seasons watching my team out gunned to have any sort of sympathy for the other lot. The fact that they were breaking the rules only adds zest to the mix. I always expected that this was a possibility and that their supremacy was built on being more unscrupulous than the rest. As they always were on the park under the blind eyes of our neutral refs. What they did is major. It can never be repaired. Why am I not surprised that Ally wants this to go away. Theres more to come I’m sure.

If agreement is reached today, there are still one or two burning questions burning bright on the horizon, what are they going to call themselves. I’m not sure they can use ‘rangers’ in any new formulation or wear similar colours is this correct?

I think the fact Sevco want this investigation stopped shows they are guilty and they know it! If they had nothing to fear and had acted within the rules (As they keep telling everyone), then they wouldn’t care about the investigation.

If you don’t want to do the time, don’t do the crime!

Auldheid, surely it’s wages at +40% they had an advantage at?

The old Rangers have a case to answer. Why should this bother Sevco and their fans as they embark on their first ever trophy ? Celtic are so far out of sight now that adding extra titles (fully justified) makes little relative difference. Sevco will need to be in business for decades and be winning consistently to have any hope of catching up with their Glasgow rivals. But, Celtic and other disenfranchised clubs are fully entitled to receive those prizes they were runners up for. When I was a youngster in Glasgow playing “fitba”, if the other team fielded an illegal player, they forfeited the match. Everyone new the rules before a ball was kicked.

I so hope your sources are correct Phil.

And as for Mr McCoist – can’t see him lasting too much longer with Mr Green.

The guy’s mouth is a liability they can’t afford.

No surrender, more like fully prostate contrition, Bye Ally.

By coincidence posted this on RTC. I think it was Neil Warnock who first raised the issue but it was definitely Leicester City the complaint was made against. Lineker was involved.

There are two reasons for removing titles:

contracts lodged with SFA/SPL that failed to reveal the full remuneration a player received and:
EBTs through which Rangers could afford wages 20% plus what their rivals could offer which put a standard of player in their side not available to the opposition, thus giving them unfair advantage.

The former is a breach of rules designed to protect the principle in the latter, the same principle that led to 10 points deductions for clubs entering administration.

This has its history in Leicester City fielding a team pumped up on financial steroids besting their opposition and an opposition club (Sheffield Utd?) complaining when the Leicester City funding collapsed.

The issue of unfair advantage gained was so clear the rules were changed to discourage it.

You would think that with such a precedence so well established on a principle that is core to sport, viz fairness, it would be inconceivable that either Rangers would wish to be exempt from it or the SFA to allow it.

Allowing the principle to be swerved is every bit as damaging to our game in Scotland as was the idea of placing Rangers in the SPL.

Thus the SFA should make it a non negotiable matter and one they have no wriggle room on because clubs outside Scotland will have an interest in.
What is more concerning though is that Sevco think a core principle of the game IS negotiable.

Either it is a stance to allow CG to withdraw or it is indicative of a mindset that has no concept of fairness and sporting merit, that even had it the resources of an Arab shiek, should be allowed no where near our game.

The principles should be explained to Sevco and their failure to understand them be a reason to tell them that for that reason the SFA are out.

Auldheid you are correct with general viewpoint but you underestimate the financial advantage illegal EBT use would have given.
Had Celtic offered a player 20k a week this would tranlate into approx 14k take home pay.
As the tax scam involved the whole 20k being pocketed across the city then c50% salary differential would have accrued.

  • Fisiani

What scenario makes the most money for Green?
That’s all you have to consider.
Green is not a rangers fan. He cares not a jot re titles and history.
He will accept title stripping. Some will not they will have to buy the club off him.

  • George

More chaos to follow when Sevco go into administration then . . .
